Guide for pharmacists educated outside of Denmark

Pharmacists trained outside EU/EEA must have special permission to practise in the country.

3-step process:

1) Application
The first step is to submit your degree to the Danish Medicines Agency for approval.

2) Decision
The Agency will contact you once it has assessed your qualifications.

3a) Qualified - but supplement needed
Applicants are often asked to take supplementary courses so that their qualifications are the equivalent of a Danish degree. Any supplementary requirements will be listed in the decision by the Agency. Only after you complete and pass the supplementary courses will you be granted authorisation to work as a pharmacist in Denmark.

You can take supplementary single courses as an Open-University student at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. Please note that you may only take a maximum of 60 ECTS under the Open University.

3b) Not qualified
The decision may be that you need to take a master's degree programme in Pharmacy in order to be granted authorisation. If admitted, you will be able to apply for credit transfer for study elements already passed.
