Admission requirements
Academic qualifications
Admission to the PhD programme is based on qualifications equivalent to a Danish two-year master's degree (120 ECTS). Degrees awarded by foreign universities must be assessed by either the Graduate School or the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science. The qualifications of international applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Check that your qualifications correspond to the Danish MSc degree.
Contact the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science for an assessment.
Supervisor and funding
You must have an agreement with a principal supervisor and funding for payment of the PhD tuition fee (3 x 50,000 DKK) as well as funding for payment of your own pay.
Read more about how to find a project and a supervisor.
Foreign applicants need to obtain the required permissions from the immigration authorities. Read more at newtodenmark.dk and International Staff Mobility (ISM).
PhD positions at the University of Copenhagen are regularly announced at the UCPH Job Portal.
The Faculty does not offer any scholarships.

- You come from a country where English is the official language.
- You come from an EU or EEA country.
- You can document that you have completed a BSc or MSc education where English was the language of instruction (please enclose documentation with your application).
