JOIN LERU DOCTORAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2025 AT UCPH

The 14th edition of the LERU Doctoral Summer School will be held at the University of Copenhagen from 23 until 27 June 2025. The theme for the Summer School is “Artificial Intelligence across University Disciplines – Perspectives and Hands-on Experience”, and as a PhD student at SUND you now have the opportunity to get one of two spots reserved for students from UCPH.

About the summer school

The aim of the LERU Doctoral Summer School is to provide doctoral researchers with unique professional and interpersonal development opportunities beyond those to which they are generally exposed, as well as create an exceptional, cross-cultural, and interdisciplinary environment of long-lasting value to the participants’ future careers.

The LERU Doctoral Summer School at UCPH aims at furnishing PhD students from a multitude of subjects with both theoretical perspectives on Artificial Intelligence and group-based hands-on experience in fields closely related to their own. The summer school will cover critical perspectives from technical AI experts, ethical and legal implications and pitfalls, and practical exercises.

The take-away from the summer school will be to dream big and use AI, but to cut hype away and use AI as a tool to improve research, and applications of research, for the good of humanity.

Who can participate?

Two PhD students from UCPH are selected to be part of the Doctoral Summer School together with students from other LERU Universities. Students should be at a minimum somewhat advanced in their doctoral work.

How to get a spot?

  • PhD students must send a motivation letter and CV to phd@adm.ku.dk no later than 6 January 2025.
  • Should there be a need to prioritize among participants, this will be done by the relevant Heads of Graduate Schools before 31 January 2025. The first-ranked candidate is automatically accepted. Second places (and any further places, based on availability) are decided by the host university (UCPH) and the DOCT PG Steering Group, after consideration of all applications, aiming to achieve a balanced representation regarding disciplines, gender and university affiliation.

Price

The participation fee is € 600. This covers materials, food and other expenses related to attending the Doctoral Summer School. It is up to each participant to find funding to cover the fee either from their institution, research project, Graduate Programme or other.
