Short description of the thesis

This PhD project investigates the clinical value of biomarkers in patients admitted at the emergency department at Amager and Hvidovre Hospital. The research explores whether inflammatory biomarkers, such as leucocyte cell count, CRP and suPAR, can help predict clinical outcomes among patients hospitalised with COVID-19 and whether the biomarker D-dimer is associated with thrombosis in specific vein segments in patients with DVT. By improving our understanding of how biomarkers reflect disease severity and thrombus location, this research aims to contribute to better risk assessment, more informed clinical decisions, and possible improvement to patient care.
