Playful Hearing: Exploring Playful and Interactive Methods in Clinical Audiology to Support Hearing Potential in Children with Hearing Loss
How can playful and interactive approaches strengthen support for children with hearing loss? This PhD project explored ways to enhance knowledge, participation, and social well-being through clinical tools and procedures. Across four studies, digital applications, gamified interventions, virtual reality, and quality assurance methods were developed and evaluated with children, parents, and clinicians. The findings highlight the potential of playful, engaging, and patient-centred approaches to complement existing clinical practice and support hearing rehabilitation, inclusion, and everyday participation for children with hearing loss.
