Short description of the thesis

Palmoplantar psoriasis (PP), palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP), and hyperkeratotic palmoplantar eczema (HPE) are three inflammatory skin diseases that share the same anatomical location, the palms and soles (palmoplantar). They can present with overlapping clinical features such as scaling and thickening of the outer skin layer (hyperkeratosis). This overlap makes diagnosis challenging in daily clinical practice. Furthermore, their underlying molecular mechanisms remain insufficiently understood. The overall aim of this thesis was to determine whether clinical and molecular data can be used to distinguish between these three diseases from different perspectives.
