Short description of the thesis

Pregnancies complicated by type 1 and type 2 diabetes are associated with an increased risk of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes, and maternal hyperglycemia is considered a major determinant of these outcomes. This thesis investigates glycemic management during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate post-delivery period in women with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It focuses on continuous glucose monitoring, rapid-acting insulin analogs, and subcutaneous insulin management during labor and delivery. Specifically, the thesis examines sensor-derived glycemic metrics in relation to fetal growth, compares faster-acting insulin aspart with insulin aspart during pregnancy, and evaluates subcutaneous insulin management during induction of labor and delivery.
