Short description of the thesis

Impairments in working memory and executive functioning are common in neurological disease, and effective cognitive rehabilitation is important to support independence and quality of life. This PhD thesis investigates the evidence, methodological challenges, and practical feasibility of Computer-based cognitive rehabilitation (CBCR) in three neurological conditions: stroke, cardiac arrest, and Parkinson’s disease. 

Findings from systematic reviews and a pilot trial informed the design of the COMPEX trial: the first multicenter randomized controlled trial investigating whether targeted CBCR can improve working memory across neurological conditions.
