Short description of the thesis:
Cancer is on the rise in the Western world. By 2050, we may see almost 20% more cancer patients in Denmark. Can we slow this increase by focusing strongly on prevention? Or will an ageing population simply lead to more cancer no matter what we do?
This PhD focuses on these questions and zooms in on breast cancer to see which subtypes and age groups will be most common in the future. It also examines whether we are, in practice, carrying out unsystematic screening for prostate cancer in Denmark, despite national recommendations against it.
