Organisation and responsibilities for quality assurance of study programmes
The Dean has the overall responsibility for the Faculty and thus for quality assurance of the Faculty’s study programmes. Quality-assurance work is conducted in close collaboration with the Faculty’s heads of department, study boards and heads of studies as well as a number of boards, councils and committees, which advise the Dean on quality assurance of study programmes and courses.
The quality-assurance system at HEALTH is based on general UCPH policies as well as local HEALTH policies, and the implementation hereof has been described in a range of procedures and guidelines. The quality-assurance procedures and guidelines at HEALTH are not advisory, but must be complied with as formulated. Descriptions of functions and procedures clearly outline the quality-assurance roles and responsibilities of the various individuals, committees and boards at the Faculty
Descriptions of functions: Heads of studies, chairs of study boards and heads of departments are responsible for one or more study programmes. Course organisers and teaching committees are responsible for teaching on one or more courses. The specific responsibilities for the individual fora and agents are explained in the descriptions of functions, which can be found on The Faculty's KUnet site on quality assurance.
Procedures and guidelines: SUND has drawn up a series of procedures and guidelines to ensure processes for planning, developing, evaluating and monitoring programmes and courses. This supports the University’s procedures and guidelines for quality of education. Find the procedures and guidelines here.
Employer panels: The programmes’ employer panels contribute with advice and evaluation of the quality of education, changes to the curricula and the relevance of the study programmes from an employer's perspective. Link to information about employer panels (in Danish).
Study boards: The study boards continuously and systematically strive to develop and adjust the study programmes in relation to developments within research and the needs of the job market. . Link to information about study boards.
Educational councils: Five academic educational councils have been set up at HEALTH. These are advisory bodies, which ensure mutual communication between heads of department, heads of studies, chairs of study boards, course organisers, exam organisers and students. Link to information about the educational councils.
Students: The students play an active role in quality-assurance work at HEALTH through their contributions to committees and boards, including study boards, Academic Council and Student Forum, as well as to course evaluation. Course evaluation follows the general UCPH guidelines and includes systematic evaluation of the students’ experience of all courses offered at HEALTH. For the purposes of systematic and targeted follow-up, course managers, heads of studies, study boards and heads of department as well as hospital management (where relevant) receive feedback on the students’ evaluation after each semester.
