Learn more about defibrillators

What is a defibrillator?

A defibrillator is a mobile, battery-driven machine that can be operated manually. The defibrillator can through electric shock make a heart resume normal blood circulation. Defibrillators are self-diagnostic, which means that anyone can use them. Faulty use is not possible.

The Defibrillator Network

When a person suffers from unexpected heart failure, it is crucial to know where the nearest defibrillator is located. In Copenhagen only 10 per cent of the people who experience heart failure survive. But the project Hurtig Hjælp med Hjertestarter (Fast Help with Defibrillators) shows the position of defibrillators throughout the country. Visit www.hjertestarter.dk to see the location of all defibrillators signed up for the Defibrillator Network. The idea is to make defibrillators accessible to everyone, and therefore the defibrillators at SUND are also available to people in the streets.
