Clinical and preclinical research recognised with prestigious awards
The awards will be given to Professor Juleen Zierath from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research and Clinical Professor Gitte Moos Knudsen from the Department of Clinical Medicine. The prizes are DKK 1.75 million each.
Professor Juleen Zierath from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research received the award in the preclinical field.
On receiving the prize, Juleen Zierath says: “I am truly honored to receive this distinction. Receiving this prize is both humbling and motivating, and I am thankful to the faculty and the Kirsten and Freddy Johansen Foundation for recognizing the importance of this research area. The research grant will enable my team to expand our investigation of exercise-responsive molecular pathways and accelerate the translation of our findings toward potential therapeutic applications.”
On receiving the prize, Clinical Professor Gitte Moos Knudsen from the Department of Clinical Medicine says:
"The award is a huge recognition of the research that my research group and I have carried out over a number of years, as well as for my organisations, Rigshospitalet and the University of Copenhagen, as well as the many foundations that have supported my research over the years. Personally, it is a special joy for me and my family and a recognition of how much of one's time it takes to conduct research at a high level."
