SUND receives funding for patient-centric research

GRANTS

The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences receives DKK 30 million in funding from the Independent Research Fund Denmark for 11 projects aimed at strengthening patient-centric research.

11 research projects at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences will get a share of the DKK 192 million provided by Independent Research Fund Denmark under the DFF1 call “Strengthened clinical and independent research”. The SUND funding will go to research into sleep apnoea, fertility and migraine and more.

The aim of the call is to strengthen patient-centric clinical research and to support independent researcher-initiated trials in areas of limited commercial interest and opportunity for external funding.

This year, the Independent Research Fund Denmark received a total of 247 applications. The fund has selected 61 projects, 11 of which are based at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.

  • Professor Liselotte Sonnesen (Department of Odontology), who has received funding for the project “Mandibular advancement device and continuous positive airway pressure for treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea”

  • Professor Eva Ran Hoffmann (Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine), who has received funding for the project “Assessment of efficacy and diagnostic value of whole genome sequencing for women with ovarian dysfunction”

  • Postdoc Isa Amalie Olofsson (Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine), who has received funding for the project “Whole-genome sequencing of migraine discordant monozygotic twins to find biomarkers for migraine”

  • Professor Tor Biering-Sørensen (Department of Biomedical Sciences), who has received funding for the project ”A Danish pragmatic randomized trial of nutritional supplements in heart failure (DANUTRIO-HF)”

  • Clinical Professor Anja Bisgaard Pinborg (Department of Clinical Medicine), who has received funding for the project ”Cardiometabolic function in Offspring, Mother and Placenta after Assisted Reproductive Technology (COMPART)”

  • Associate Professor Nicolai Albrechtsen (Department of Clinical Medicine), who has received funding for the project ”Enabling non-invasive diagnostics of autoimmune liver diseases by state-of-the-art clinical biochemistry”

  • Clinical Associate Professor Kristine Løssl (Department of Clinical Medicine), who has received funding for the project ”Improving IVF for women with a diminished ovarian reserve”

  • Clinical Research Associate Professor Cecilia Lund (Department of Clinical Medicine), who has received funding for the project ”Project ZOOM”

  • Clinical Professor Marius Henriksen (Department of Clinical Medicine), who has received funding for the project ”Self -Managed Exercise in Fitness Centers vs. Physiotherapist-Supervised Exercise for Knee Osteoarthritis. The SELFIT randomized trial”

  • Clinical Professor Preben Homøe (Department of Clinical Medicine), who has received funding for the project ”The SaTDy Study – A study of Smell and Taste Dysfunctions in COVID-19 patients”

  • Clinical Professor Anders Perner (Department of Clinical Medicine), who has received funding for the project ”Albumin for intensive care patients with shock - a domain on the Intensive Care Platform Trial (INCEPT) - INCEPT-Albumin”
