Copenhagen Cluster of Immunology

The objective of the Copenhagen Cluster of Immunology (CCI) is to strengthen immunological research at the Faculty by promoting collaborative, cross-disciplinary research projects within the field. The cluster focuses on how immune responses are induced, selected and regulated, with the central question for researchers at CCI being "How is effector T cell outcome directed during an immune response". Greater insight into the field is critical so that researchers can better manipulate immune responses, so as to only induce beneficial responses, while autoreactive and allergic responses are effectively prevented or suppressed.

The cluster comprises 48 senior scientists from:

  • The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology
  • Department of Medical Anatomy
  • Department of Odontology
  • Department of Public Health
  • Rigshospitalet
  • Gentofte Hospital

and collaborators at:

  • The Faculty of Science
  • The Technical University of Denmark
  • Danish Cancer Society, Statens Serum Institut
  • ALK-Abelló
  •  H. Lundbeck
  • LEO-Pharma
  • Novo-Nordisk
  • Novozymes
  • Nycomed.

The cluster is linked to the Graduate School of Immunology, headed by Associate Professor, Mogens Holst Nissen.

The Faculty provides the cluster with additional funding of 10 mill. DDK, distributed over a five-year period.
