PhD mentor programme

The University of Copenhagen is launching a new PhD Mentor Programme in the autumn 2018. With this programme, you can explore and discuss perspectives on what a PhD degree can be used for and what a career path as a scientist, specialist or generalist outside the university might look like.

The mentors will have interesting professional careers as researchers, specialists or as generalists in a company, a ministry, a library or a museum etc.

 A mentor can give you:

  • An informal setting where you are able to discuss every aspect of your thoughts on your future career
  • Knowledge of a specific company or company culture – what is it like to be employed there?
  • A comprehensive view of your job possibilities
  • New perspectives on your PhD competencies
  • Important networks

The mentoring process runs from September 2018 to January 2019 and lasts for 5 months with 3-4 meetings in total. There will be a joint kick off for mentors and mentees at the end of August.

To be eligible for the programme, you need to be enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen and be at least a year and a half into your studies.
