Safe Delivery App on international women’s conference

BIRTH APP

This Danish app is presented at the international conference on women’s and girls’ rights, Women Deliver, which is taking place in Copenhagen this week. The Safe Delivery App was developed by the Danish NGO Maternity Foundation in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen and the University of Southern Denmark.

Each day, 800 women and 7,000 babies die in connection with pregnancy and childbirth, primarily in developing countries. Most of these deaths, by far, could have been avoided if the women had had a qualified midwife close by. And this is why professionals have developed a special app, the so-called Safe Delivery App, which can assist midwifes as they face complications in connection with pregnancy and childbirth.

The Safe Delivery App is developed by the Danish NGO Maternity Foundation in collaboration with Assistant Researcher Stine Lund from the Department of Public Health, University of Copenhagen, and Obstetrician Bjarke Lund Sørensen from the University of Southern Denmark. The initiative was supported by MDS for Mothers and Det Obelske Familiefond, among others.

Women Deliver focuses on the app
The world’s largest international conference on women’s and girls’ rights, Women Deliver, which is taking place in Copenhagen this week, has termed it one of the world’s most innovative apps, which have contributed to the global health of women.

The Maternity Foundation, which is behind the Safe Delivery App, is a Danish NGO, working to save the lives of mothers and newborn babies, in pregnancy as well as childbirth.  The Maternity Foundation will present their app when the world’s leading experts in this field meet at the conference at Bella Center. It is the first time that such an event takes place on Danish soil.
