Experienced Business Profile to Boost Health Innovation at UCPH

Associate dean

Trine Winterø will take up the position of Associate Dean of Innovation and Social Relations at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, UCPH. She will head the continued development of the faculty’s prioritized efforts in relation to health innovation, a health innovation education as well as business collaborations.

The soon-to-be associate dean is currently the Managing Director of MedTech Innovation Centre (MTIC) and a board member at the Innovation Foundation. SUND will benefit from her many competences and the extensive experience she has built up over an impressive career, which includes great results in relation to knowledge-based innovation and business collaborations. Her two main focus areas will be strengthening the turnover of research results and enabling researchers as well as students to create concrete solutions of value to society faster, more efficiently and more easily.

“I’m really proud that we’ve been able to attract an associate dean with Trine Winterø’s great experience and wide network. I’m convinced that Trine is the right person to develop our strategic collaborations and alliances, which over the latter years have strengthened our efforts in relation to health innovation, a health innovation education as well as business collaborations. I look forward to welcoming Trine Winterø at SUND,” says Dean Ulla Wewer.

Trine Winterø’s career is quite remarkable. She graduated as MSc in Food Science and Technology and she has a PhD in Molecular Genetics. In 2008, she was appointed Managing Director of MTIC, an accelerator specializing in health technology, and since then she has spearheaded the establishment of close collaborations between knowledge institutions, businesses and public institutions, which among other things, has resulted in the annual completion of 50-100 projects that focus on developing new products for the healthcare sector.

For several years, Trine Winterø held chief executive positions at Symbion Capital and Symbion Management while also maintaining top-positions on various boards across the Danish innovation landscape, including Innovation Fund Denmark and the Market Development Fund.

In line with the current government, the public sector and investors in healthcare, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is focused on strengthening the innovation chain.

“SUND represents excellent research, knowledge and quality. I will use this focus to create valuable couplings between researchers, students and the business world – which is exactly where innovation occurs. In my view, it’s important that SUND focuses on the things that will sustain Denmark in the future. And we must always aim at working with the very best people the world has to offer,” says Trine Winterø.

Trine Winterø will take up the position as Associate Dean at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences on 1 December 2016.
